Behind The Scenes at an Animal Sanctuary
If you’ve ever wanted an in-depth look behind the scenes of how we care for the animals at Haye Cornwall, this is the weekend for you.
You’ll discover how we’ve created environments that enrich the lives of the ponies, donkeys, chickens, and Buddy the pig, and gain a real understanding into the positive reinforcement, force-free training techniques we use to enable co-operative care.
By coming to one of our retreats you are directly helping the animals at Haye Cornwall as every penny of profit goes to their care.
You can see what it’s like to visit us by reading our reviews here and here, and you can tour Apple Store Cottage here.

Meet the animals

There’ll be lots of opportunities to meet the rescue ponies, donkeys, chickens, and Buddy the pig, and gain an understanding of their specific needs.
We’ll give you a detailed tour of where they live and how we care for them. In particular, you’ll find out how track systems work and understand the benefits of equine barefoot living.

Discover positive reinforcement training
Working with our resident behaviourist and Equischolars Ambassador, Anna from A.I.M. Horsemanship, you’ll try positive reinforcement training for yourself and explore how it works, from both sides of the relationship!
Experience animal care

You’ll get to see these techniques in action and gain understanding into how they help us provide necessary daily and emergency care, enrich the animals’ lives, create a relaxed environment, and build our relationships.

Explore land regeneration projects
We’ll take you on a guided walk around our 25 acres so you can learn about the land regeneration projects we’re undertaking here, including planting 91 trees last year!
Ask us anything!

You’re invited to join us for dinner in the 1500s farmhouse on the Saturday night, to give you the opportunity to ask us whatever you like about running an animal sanctuary.
Find out the biggest challenges we face and what we love most about what we do at Haye.

What's available
There are only six places available on this unique weekend.
Accommodation is in either Apple Store Cottage, which has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a cosy lounge with reading nook, and a well-appointed kitchen, or in our 1500s farmhouse.
We’ll make sure you’re well fed, with all breakfasts, dinners, and lunch included.
